Anesthesia
We utilize a combination of the safest available anesthetics to provide a safe and comfortable anesthestic experience for all our patients. We routinely recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork for all patients to assess organ function and blood cell counts. Pre-anesthetic testing along with physical exam allows us to estimate anesthetic and surgical risk. Most patients will have an IV catheter and receive intravenous fluids during anesthesia. Multiple monitors including pulse oximeter to monitor heart rate and oxygen saturation, electrocardiogram to monitor heart rate and rhythm, respiratory monitor, temperature, and blood pressure are available to be used to increase safety while under anesthesia. For more information regarding pre-anesthetic evaluation and testing see Surgical FAQs.Welcome to Custer McDermott Animal Hospital.
